In most electric bikes, you can see a kind of very important engine --- brushless direct current motors (bldc motors). BLDC motor is of the motor types rapidly gaining popularity. BLDC motor is a type of synchronous motor. This means both of the magnetic fields generated by the stator and rotate are at the same frequency. The BLDC motor is featured in longer life (because no more brushes are needed), high stating torque, high no load speed and smaller energy losses. BLDC motor comes in single-phase, two-phase and three-phase configurations. Three-phase motor is the most popular and widely used in e-bike application. The structure of the BLDC motor is divided into two parts: the moving part, which is called the rotor, represented by the permanent magnet; and the fixed part, which is called the stator, represented by the phase windings of the magnetic circuit.
